Went running this morning...

I did 7 miles. It was HOT!!! My knee hurts too.... Don't know what that's about. I haven't ran since Monday because it's been sooo darn hot and humid!

Pretty uneventful week. Boredom at work. Wes finished his semester this week. (All A's might I add!) Summer term start May 26th. Today we went to the co-op and got a waterlily for the fish tank. We've been wanting something to put in there for a while. No where around here sells water lilies much. If it works out, we might get another one, slowly replacing all the ugly fake plants. Later Ken & Deb brought Papaw by the house for a quick visit. His breathing is terrible. Please pray for him.

Surprising Mom tomorrow.... Can't tell yet.

Today we've been watching Ace of Cakes... Tonight's new episode is when they go to Hawaii and make LOST's 100th episode cake.... Next week is the season finale.

SNAIL FOUND: REST IN PEACE.....

We found the snail yesterday... He was under a small piece of wood, somewhat buried in the sand. He was nasty... Oh well....

After church today, we ate lunch with Mom & Dad. (Papaw went with us to church today. He is doing great.) Then we spent most of the evening in the yard. We bought a Weedeater. It's fun. I like to cut things. (HE-HE) I don't like cutting the grass though. I like to trim the bushes. Sometimes I worry that I trim too much. I don't think I have yet. We got a lot done. I edged around the curb at the road and the driveway. It looks much better now.

Please Pray for Pete. He is suffering from the Family Curse!! He has a kidney stone. I'm just waiting for my day. I never expected him to go first.

MISSING: WHITE APPLE SNAIL

Our snail is missing. We don't know where it is.... How can a snail go missing?? We think he's dead and has somehow gotten buried in the sand. We also don't know how long he's been dead either. It's not something we check everyday.

I woke up early this morning and spent two hours weeding and messing around in the yard. (Wes actually woke me up because he was late for school!) Had a good time too. The weather this week has been great! We've slept with the windows open for the last three days.

Papaw is feeling much better. I went to see him this morning. He said that he's walking every morning (without assistance) and he looks healthy too. He called me and wanted me to bring him a bird feeder for their window. I also brought him some preserves that a lady I work with gave us. She made them from the pears. He was excited about that.

Our house...

I took some pics of the house this morning while Wes was asleep. His regular schedule includes working overnight master control on Fridays. I got up and picked some figs this morning. Carl (coworker and lifelong friend of the family) came by and got some. I have to work today. Just the newscasts though.

The fish were hiding in the back I guess. The snail is on the left in the back near the wood. The wood set out of the water so long that it was dried out and floated when we put it in the water. We had to put the rocks on top of them to hold them down. They'll get waterlogged in a week or so.

When we were little we used to spend the summers here with Mamaw & Papaw. Laura, Becky & Josh would come over for several weeks as well and we would have a blast together! We would all ride the tricycle down the road and play ball in the yard. One day, Pete, Laura and I wrote "___ was here" on the side of the house. It's right below the kitchen window in the back. I don't know what we used, but after 20+ years, it's still there! I colored the one white brick and we all wrote out names on the bricks above it.... Just kids having fun. Brings back a lot of happy memories everytime I see it. The tricycle is in the laundry room. Uncle Ken is going to take it to their house, since they have grandkids now (Becky is due any day now!!)

Not much going on.....

I've been slow to blog lately. There's not much going on. Actually there is, just nothing interesting. But I'll write it anyway, since I'm here.... We've set up the fish tank. Surprisingly, we didn't loose any fish during the move. The fish sat in their temporary home for over a week. We replaced the rock substrate with sand. Phoebe knows exactly where her feather toys are. She sits in the hallway in front of the closet door and whines and tries to get to the doorknob until one of us gets it out. She's so spoiled.

I've been over to see Papaw a few times, and he's been over here some as well. He's super excited that we're in the house now. Mom brought him over the other day to pick some figs and look at the pear trees. The pears will be ready to pick in a few weeks. The tree's branches are so heavy right now, some are splitting. I remember when we were kids, Papaw would load up the truck with tons of pears and driving around to his friends houses' who wanted some. He used to get out there and beat the tree and we would help pick them up. The purple-leafed plum trees we used to climb are gone. They either died or fell in a storm. There used to be a few large trees in the front yard, but Katrina knocked down all but one. Papaw's garden area is still there, although it's a little smaller now and nothing's planted. Hopefully, we will be able to change that soon.

Work is going pretty well. I'm slowly getting the swing of things and so is Wes. This week we've been getting re-acquainted with the routine. I started directing my second day there.

This weekend we are going to look at freezers..... Exciting I know!

Now you can wake up....

PS: WES TURNS 30 NEXT FRIDAY!!!!

It's about that time!!

Yeah! Vacation is here! We are leaving on Wednesday morning! Ricky is working this morning. He's "refreshing" today so he can work for me while I'm gone. This means that I am doing NOTHING! It's nice. I'm a bit bored though. (It's 6:06 am) We have to shoot the Fire anniversary show at 9am. (the anniversary is Wednesday)

I'll be spending my birthday at home with Wes. :) At least we won't be in the airport all day. I'm taking the day without pay. Wes and I will probably re-visit Patriots Point. We also want to buy a sweet grass basket before we move.

We've already begun packing for our move (I'm physically & mentally unable to procrastinate. I'll have an anxiety attack.) The office is almost packed up. About 80% of the kitchen is done. All that's left is the old plates, plastic cups and pots/pans. We have realized that we are unable to pull out the drawers in our new bedroom furniture, so now we have to unload every drawer in order to move them. I've already started doing that.
We haven't decided what we are going to do about the cars yet. Dad wants us to bring his boat back with us. We will either pull the car with the moving truck and I'll drive Wes's truck pulling the boat, or Wes will fly back and drive the truck & boat home. Either way, it'll be expensive and I'll be in a vehicle with Phoebe and the fish. Moving with fish is difficult. Last time, I drove my car with the big cooler in the back seat. The fish need oxygenated water, so we put an air stone in there. I had to leave my car running on the battery each time we stopped to keep the water oxygenated. We aren't going to keep our Oscar because it will be very difficult to move him. He can't be in the same tank with the other fish because he'll eat them. We are probably going to give him back to the fish store. When we move in, we are going to use the bigger tank and store the other one. We may get another one later.

Phoebe will also be in the car with me, along with her portable litterbox and a bowl of food and water. She wasn't too happy about being in the car for seven hours on our last move, but she survived. She rotated between the back window and my lap and for a few hours, then she slept on my shoulders between my neck and the seat. I couldn't move my back or she would fall. This means that I couldn't change the CD or reach the air. It was sweet though because her head was on my shoulder.

Pete has been taking a cake decorating class for the past two weeks for work. Here is a picture of his first cake. (They just celebrated their first anniversary.) He said while he was cleaning up, he dropped the lid of a box on it.

Angel Fish & Rain

Papaw is doing better, however he is still in the hospital. He can't go home until they get the level of blood thinners in his system down and they are still doing various tests. He should be home sometime this weekend or Monday. I have decided to "get sick" and take a trip down there. Since our vacation/sick time has changed, I can't just say I want a day off and since he isn't my "dependent," I'm not supposed to use a sick day. (I feel the flu coming on-cough-cough) Bobby & Masayo are coming with the twins on the 23rd. I am going that weekend! Can't wait!!! Please continue to pray for him.

Yesterday, Wes and I went downtown to the Bridge Run Expo. The race is tomorrow and we went to get my chip and number. We got a bunch of free food and junk. We "won" two loaves of bread and "spun the wheel" for Chick-Fil-A coupons. I also got a t-shirt to wear for the race. It's an Alzheimer's Association shirt. The race is tomorrow. I haven't been to the gym in over a week. Hopefully, I won't pass out! I'm hoping to beat last years time, but I'm not betting on it. I hope it doesn't rain tomorrow. I'm stopping at Wes's station (around mile 2). He's going to have the Nikon camera and will be taking pictures of the Kenyans, wheelchair racers and the crowds. I'm taking the handheld camera and I'll take pictures as well. There are over 40,000 people running tomorrow! I'll post the pics this weekend. I'm looking forward to just running. I have a lot of stress to let out.

After the Expo, We ate at a new (to us) place downtown. It's called the East Bay Deli. (Really Good!) Then we went to the fish store and got a new fish. We got an Angel Fish for our community tank. Ours looks similar to this one, but smaller. He should get a little larger.
We also found out this week that there is a new Walgreens being built a few miles from our apartment!! The closest one we currently use is 15 minutes away, through big, busy intersections. Usually, there's a pharmacy on every corner, but not near our area. The new one is going up near a new business park being built near the Navy Base. Wes is proud of this because he used to work at Walgreens.

(HERE YOU GO MOM!) We also noticed the "AW" signs out on our way home. This is "code" for an Army Wives shoot. They were pointing to the Navy Base. We drove down there and they had lights pointing at the windows of one of the buildings and had the road blocked off. There were dozens of production trailers and we could see the Actors trailers lined up as well. That means that they were shooting scenes with the main characters from the show. (The lights pointed towards the windows are for simulated sunlight.)

We have a double header on Sunday. I put a list on the right side to keep up with our wins/losses. Pete & Kelly won't be there because they are going to the Hockey game in Atlanta with Mom & Dad. With the bridge run AND two softball games this weekend, I will be stealing the wheelchair from Jason on Monday (he has a broken foot).

I'm also not looking forward to next week. Since we are still shorthanded (the newbies just started this week), I have to do three hours on Monday and Tuesday. On top of doing three hours, I have to train the new director at the same time. My brain has had enough.

CLOVERFIELD RULES!!!!!! POLITICS DON'T!!!!

Okay, so it's a terrible weather day in the "good ol' SC" (EXTREMELY Sarcastic here). How appropriate for the most ridiculous primary day!! (I did vote by the way.) It's pooring down rain and it's really cold. Tonight it's supposed to be below freezing which means tomorrow it's going to be iced over.
It snowed everywhere else. (I take this as a sign!!) Here are some pics of my parents house from this morning!! They got about 4 inches!!! I'm SOOO jealous!! I want to go home so bad now!! It's beautiful!!!!

Dad & Luann

The Hockey Snowman (his mouth is a hockey puck and he's holding a stick!)

This just makes me want to move back home even more! Even if snow is rare. There hasn't been snow like this since the "blizzard" of '93... I remember that day. It was March and it was the Friday we got out of school for Spring Break. My friend Amber stayed with me that night. Pete, Amber and I were having a blast in the snow. It was SOOOO cold! We slid down the hill in the front yard and made a snowman. I think we got about 6 or 7 inches then.

So I had to work this morning. It was an easy day, but it was a waste of time. The show started at 7am (1 hour + cut-ins til 10). Nothing but live shots and "where to vote" graphics. It was ridiculously unnecessary. In the last cut-in, one of our live reporters said that she's kept a rough count of voters and she counted 117. Very compelling! Hey, at least I got free Chick-fil-a and four hours OT!
CLOVERFIELD RULES!!!
Yesterday, I SAW CLOVERFIELD!!!!!! IT WAS AWESOME!!!!! I went with some friends from work. If you like LOST, You'll LOVE CLOVERFIELD!!! It keeps you on the edge of your seat!! It's shot really well. I highly recommend it!! After the movie, we had a big discussion on why it's called Cloverfield. There's no mention of the name that I noticed anywhere. Wes & I are going to see it again on Wednesday. Maybe I'll pick it out then. With most of JJ Abrams' work, you really have to watch it several times to understand everything and pick out the small hidden details to "get" the story. There's hundreds of hidden numbers, props, and other clues that tie things together. Hopefully I can figure out some unanswered questions on Wednesday. It's like a puzzle... It's so much Fun to me!!!!
Afterward, when I got home, Oscar was dead! He was one of our fish. He was supposed to grow to about a foot long. He was really growing fast. He was about 4 or 5 inches long. He had been a bit dormant lately, but that's not unusual. His color was fine and he was eating. I don't know what happened to him. We were looking forward to having a big fish in our tank for once. So, today after Wes & I went to vote, we went to the fish store we like and got another one. A Big one! He's about a foot long and should grow a little more. Our tank is a 75 gallon. It's only big enough for one oscar. We also have a Pleco (algae eater sucker fish) who's about 10 inches long in there too. Here's a few pics:
