Running update....

I have found it!!! June 13th... It's not official yet, but it soon will be. I'm going to register for my FIRST HALF MARATHON this weekend. I'm getting really nervous! The most I've ever done is 8 miles. I have to get up to 13! I have to stay with it. I have to!! This week I've ran almost 20 miles. Sunday: 6, Monday: 5.5, Tuesday: 4.75, and 3.5 today. I didn't have a lot of time today. I'm sitting out tomorrow. Then Friday I'm going to try to do as much as possible. Today was supposed to be my rest day, but the weather was soooo beautiful. I couldn't resist.

Anyway, I desperately need a cheering section!!!!

Prayer...

Papaw is back in the hospital again. He went in on Monday night. His breathing was worse and he had had a fever. He's much better now, but his breathing is still a problem. He can't do anything without weasing and having shortness of breathe. Please pray that his breathing improves and he can regain his strength. I'm staying with him tonight.

Back in the swing of things, running I mean, after a week of sitting out because of those stupid brick sidewalks. Both my ankles were sore for several days. Yesterday, I did about 6. Today I did 4 1/2. Yesterday Wes & I went to a friend's wedding. The wedding was at 11am. So all day, we felt like it was Sunday because we got dressed up and went to church. Each time I realized it was Saturday, it was a great feeling because I knew I still had one more day before I had to go back to work. (5 weeks till the bridge run!!)
Tonight I made Seafood Bisque. It was rather tasty. I made some last week, but I didn't have any chives or sherry to put in it. This time it was better. I'm learning.

Next weekend is going to be fairly busy. Saturday morning, I'm going to have a SPA DAY!!! Yeah! I can't wait! Then I'm going to a bridal shower for a couple in our Sunday School class. Then later that night, Wes & I are going to see the play "Driving Miss Daisy" at Meridian Little Theater.

Next week (March 4) is Papaw's 80th birthday. We are having a big birthday party for him here on March 7th. He told me today that he didn't think he would have ever made it this far. I am especially grateful that he is still with us, no matter how long that may be.

Happy V-day everyone!!

Wes & I had a good day. Slept late. I got him a few training sessions with the trainer at the gym. (Hint Hint) He got me some tulips and a message and facial at a local spa... :)
We also went walking today... "WE." We both walked to the cemetery and back. It was a bit chilly, but nice. Wes learned more about our neighborhood. (There's a house down the street that still has Christmas decorations in the yard.) You observe alot more when you're on foot than you would speeding past in a car.
Yesterday (Friday the 13th!), I went running downtown. Parts of the sidewalk is made of brick. Most of the sidewalk is uneven, broken or just plain horrible. The brick part is especially bad because I have nearly tripped over the uneven bricks several times. Yesterday, I nearly fell on my face! I think I twisted my ankle a little bit. Actually both ankles. They're both a little sore right now.

Why I chose running...

Golf & Tennis are for folks with money. You almost have to spend hundreds and even thousands of dollars to become members of a "private" club and then spend even more on equipment. In my line of work, money doesn't grow on trees. It doesn't grow anywhere.... Plus, it takes lots of practice and skill to learn how to swing properly and all that. Not worth it.

Football, Baseball & Basketball are for people with lots of friends. Lots of athletic friends... Football is way overrated anyway. Plus all these sports as well as golf and tennis require a court, field or a course. Too much contact as well. Not for me...

Running is an individual sport. No teams or opponents needed, although a partner would be nice for long runs. No "joining fees" or green fees. I don't have to have the most expensive golf club. All I need is a comfortable pair of shoes and an open road.

(Did four miles yesterday, but my iPod messed up and didn't save it. So my goal count is off. )

another JJ Abrams Revelation....

Alias Season 3: Sydney & Vaughn are stuck in North Korea. A "Mr. Cho" helps them get out.

Mr. Cho is played by none other than the guy who is the multi-named doctor in Lost's Orientation videos.

Holding it together is becoming harder....

Today I attempted to rollover my 401K. It was ridiculous! I've done this several times in the past and I have never had this much trouble. No one will give me a straight answer. I was not in the right mindset to deal with it anyway. I have completely given up and we are going to move the money into a IRA or something.

Lost comes on tonight. Right now, I'm watching Alias. Lots of 47's..... Trying to clear my mind and think about other things besides work. I wanted to run today, but last night at the gym, my shins and calfs started hurting, so I figured it would be a good idea to sit out today. The weather is supposed to be nice this weekend. I'll be outside as much as possible. Honk if you see me... just not when you're right behind me because that scares me....

Papaw's 80th birthday is March 4th. We are planning a get-together for him. More details to come.....
