bored...

Not much going on this week. I'm still practicing my German...

"Eine junge Frau hat launges haar."

"Es ist dwei ohr."

:)

I ran on Monday. It's too hot!! I rode the bike around the neighborhood yesterday. I want to ride to work, but it's now 85 degrees at 1pm everyday. Too HOT!!!! I was going to run this morning, but was too lazy to get up... Must go tomorrow......... I'm doing good with not eating as much sweets. I'm sticking to gum and the occasional RingPop!! No cookies.. no cakesters (i ran out this weekend), no chocolate stuff...

Wes & I walked around in the yard this morning. (It smells so great!!!) This weekend, I think we are going to clean out some flower beds and weed. His watermelon and canteloupe plants are growing pretty good. He'll probably plant them in the next week or so.

LOST was excellent last night... Did anyone else see the Flash Foward promos?? We fast-fowarded through commercials, so I only caught one. There were 5. Wonder what that's about????

drei, zwei, eins, null !!

Anybody?? Thanks to Rosetta Stone, I can now count in German!!

Eins... Zwei... Drei... Vier... Funf... Sechs... Sieben... Acht... Neun... Zehn

:)

Today was a good day. A good weekend actually. Yesterday, I ran 6 or so and then hung out around the house mostly. I had planned to install RS (Rosetta Stone), but ended up defragmenting the computer first and that took all night. Today, Papaw was at church, so Mom & Dad came as well. Afterwords, Wes had to go to work - :( - while we went to Cracker Barrel. Uncle Johnny was in town from Colorado Springs (HEY UNCLE J!!!) and ate with us.

Then I went to Bonita and ran the trails. A guy I work with has been doing them for a while and keeps talking about how "great" it is. (I haven't been back there in a while.) So I decided to try it. It was an experience. Just like the roads here in town, the place was not marked all that well. So yes, I did loose my way a bit.... I started out okay. I chose the bike/hiking trail instead of the gravel roadway. I thought it would be fun. It was... Until about two miles in, I was jogging along, enjoying myself with my music going. All of a sudden I hear this shuffling noise and look down at a big black snake about 5 feet in front of me, heading across my path and down the hill. (I ended up seeing another snake and I also scared off a deer.) I nearly peed on myself. From then on, I kept watching the brush around me and listening for other unwelcomed animals... That was my first (only, really) mistake. I'm trucking along and I come to a turn, stop for a second for some water and look up and see a green marker. What??? I had been following the blue markers! Somehow I missed a turn or something, and ended up on a different trail. Oh well. I'd rather be on the wrong trail then no trail at all. So, I don't know how long I was on the green trail, so I decide to keep going. A couple miles later, I come down a hill and there is about 4 feet of slush and mud. Then I noticed the huff prints... I was on the horse trail!!! Great! So I have to find a way to get over this mud hole. I trot through the brush to get around it. No problem. Well, long story short, there were about 6 more of those low places in the trail with water, mush and mud. One of them was basically a creek! Luckily there was a big tree that had fallen over it, so I walked across it. I wasn't all that lucky though. I sank my shoes in the mud a few times! They aren't so new looking anymore. ( I washed them twice with oxyclean and color-safe bleach... Still brown!) I wandered around the horse trails for a long time before I found "civilization" (the gravel road). I decided to stick to the road... Turns out I wasn't that far off the bike path. I was about 4 miles from my car. Anyway, I was fun! I'll probably do it again... I'll watch for the markers a little more closely though!!

New Picture of Gracie....

Going Hog Wild....

This weekend was pretty eventful. On Friday, Wes went to Hudson's and found ROSETTA STONE!! He got me the German version! I can't wait to start learning it!!

On Saturday morning, we woke up early and went to Philadelphia for the Hog Wild Run. Don't look at the results. I was LAST in my age division. It wasn't a big race so before I was worried about it. I didn't want to be the last finisher. When we got there, my anxiety got worse because it started to rain pretty heavily. I began to regret signing up for the 10K. (There was also a 5K) I ran the first two miles in the Rain! It wasn't that bad actually. Except for one serious hill that nearly did me in!! I made it though. Luckily there were about 6 or 7 people behind me. But the good thing is, I DID BEAT MY BRIDGE RUN TIME! By 4 seconds!! I didn't realize it until I searched for the results. 1:02:37. I am determined to get under an hour.... We'll see if I can do it.... Here's the pics that Wes took. (He was going to walk it, but didn't want to because of all the rain.)

After the race, we walked around the Ham Jam Festival (not much too it)... They were having a BBQ contest I think, but they weren't selling any! So everyone's walking around smelling this awesome BBQ smells and there was none! It was quite upsetting. Instead, we had a Pork Kabob and a funnel cake.
When we came home we went to Quitman for a quick visit to Wes' parents and Grandmother. (Wes' step-sister Kelly is pregnant again!) Then we went to Mom & Dad's for a fish fry. Dad bought a new 4-wheeler last week and was showing it off. Wes has never driven one before. He was cute!!

So then on Sunday we went to church. Wes hasn't been in like a month since he's been working at the airport. The outreach program is really working! They've sent two postcards to Wes and they've even called once to say they missed him. The call and the postcards are from people we don't know.... Anyway, after church, Mom and I went to Pearl for Josh & Amy's bridal shower.
We also drove over to Michael's and I got three new poster frames for my Bridge Run Posters!! I can't wait to hang them up....

Easter pics..

Today after I went to church (by myself! Darn airport!) I went for a bike ride. I went all the way to visit Mamaw's grave. It's a little over 6 miles from here. I was a little nervous about riding on HWY 39, but that was really nothing. I had to ride on North Hills Street for about a quarter of a mile and that was what I should have been nervous about! Whew... I came back the same way, and I let me tell you, they don't call it N. HILLS for nothing! It was brutal! I had to get off and walk. Anyway, when I came back, I took several pictures of the crosses at the churches. These first two are from Northcrest. I was going to take one while I was at church, but there were too many families around taking their own pictures. The other cross is the one in front of Poplar Springs UMC. I thought they were great!

After my ride, I sat outside and read my book for a good while. The breeze was great.... Here's a few from today of the rambling roses. They are blooming nicely. There's hundred of buds that haven't opened yet.

Nice and Thorny!!

Here's some new pics of my "flowers." They'll be Day Lillies one day...

Happy Easter!

This week has been really nice. I rode my bike to work on Thursday. It was supposed to rain yesterday, but didn't. It would have been perfect for it. I went running downtown this afternoon. It was really nice.... Think I'll sit outside and read for a while. I might take a bike ride tomorrow.

There's a 10K in Philadelphia on April 18th. Here we go again!!! I think if I have a race to prepare for, I'll stick to it better.

Our IKEA Trip....

First off, here's a pic of Pete's new Tattoo's. (yeah, I know...) Something about chickens and pigs and surviving a boat sinking.... I don't know......
Anyway, if you've never been to IKEA, you should go. It's an experience. It's a huge store. Two levels of parking underneath the store. One floor of showroom and one floor of self-service warehouse. There's several spaces in the showroom that shows how you can live in small spaces. You can walk through these spaces and everything is for sale... Here's a few picks...

In the garage, there are several of these boxes.. Free twine to tie your purchases to your vehicle...

Wes lounging in the sofa section...

The company is based in Scandinavian. Most of the showroom has Scandinavian books on the shelves.

There's a shopping cart escalator that takes you back down to the parking garages. There's also a cafeteria that serves a full breakfast for $0.99 and a day care. While you shop, you occasionally smell cinnamon rolls. Behind the registers, there's a little snack counter that sells hot dogs, ice cream, drinks and the best cinnamon rolls.

Bridge Run 2009

Yeah!! 1:02:41!!! I was # 4737. I beat my best 10K time. I wanted to finish under and hour, but that was a stretch. I'm still happy with it though!! We had a great time! The weather was great. It was chilly while we were waiting for the race to start, but once the sun came up and we started going, it was perfect. We took the shuttle buses over the bridge to the start. We got there around 5:45am... more than 2 HOURS before race time! Sounds ridiculous, but with 35,000 people converging on the same place at once and only two ways to get there, it's necessary. Anyway, we ate Dunkin Donuts (I ate a banana) and sat around to wait....

These are the RFID chips.

Wes wore his "got gas" shirt... :)

When it was time to get in line, Pete and I went further up where we were seeded. We could see the start line. It still took us a few minutes to get to cross the start. The pics below are from Mom's camera. They were walking and could see the large crowd ahead as the got to the bridge.

After the race, I ran into Tracey and Harve from Channel 5. I saw Tracey on Friday night at the Expo as well. I walked around for a bit and then found Pete and we waited for everyone else to finish. Pete finished before me at 50:27. (#2405)

Here's Mom near the finish line.

On Friday night, we ate at Barbara Jean's (Best crab cakes EVER!) On Saturday, we were all exhausted from waking up at 4am two days in a row, so we ate a late lunch/early dinner at Gilligan's (great seafood) and crashed at Pete & Kelly's and watched "Seven Pounds". Excellent Movie... Later we got ice cream at Coldstone and then went to bed. Mom, Wes & I left on Sunday around 11am. In Atlanta, we ate at Qdoba. (We found it using the GPS. I had no idea where we were) After lunch, we went to IKEA.......
