Olivia Grace Dennis was born in August of 2008. Gracie is the daughter of Jim & Becky Dennis of Vicksburg. Becky is my cousin. Gracie will be two years old this year. She is an adorable little girl with tons of energy and life. Shortly after birth, she was diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis. The diagnosis came as a shock to the family. No one knew the CF gene was present. Jim and Becky, their parents, family and friends have become advocates for CF research and awareness and are active in the Mississippi Chapter of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
On November 7, 2010, I am running the New York Marathon. I plan to use this opportunity God has given me to raise awareness and funds for CF research in honor of Gracie. Cystic Fibrosis is a life threatening genetic disease that effects the lungs and digestive systems of approximately 30,000 children and adults in the United States. Research and care supported by the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation in extending the improvement and quality of life for those with CF. However we continue to loose at least one precious life to CF each day. That's why our collective help is needed to ensure a cure is found sooner, rather than later. Together, we can make a difference in the lives of those with CF.
I want to take this opportunity to ask for your help in supporting a cause that is near and dear to my heart. I hope that you will "sponsor" me in the New York City marathon by making a donation to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation on behalf of little Gracie.
